It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Melvin Laverne Yates (Apex, North Carolina), who passed away on June 22, 2023, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Gleason Yates and Mabel Yates; and his brothers, Walter Glenn Yates, Willie Vann Yates, G. A. Yates and Clabon Yates.

He is survived by: his sister Doris Upchurch. He is also survived by six nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to Green Level Baptist Church Building Fund.
