He was predeceased by: his parents, James Milton Ragan and Marie Mills Ragan; and his brother Donald Ragan. He is survived by: his wife Eloise Holt Ragan; his daughters, Lisa Ragan and Sheila Ragan Perry; his brothers, Joe Ragan (Jane) and J. D. Denson; and his grandchildren, Nathan Perry of Hannah Ammon, J. T and Jesse Ammon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to UNC Hospice.
