He was predeceased by: his parents, Haywood Arthur Lane, Sr. and Margaret Virginia Lane (Howell). He is survived by: his close friend Peggy Ridout; his children, Nancy Marcom (Thomas) and Haywood Arthur Lane, III (Kristi); his grandchildren, Heather Beckwith, Janet Parker, Max Marcom, Aimee Lane and Haywood Arthur Lane IV; and his great grandchildren, Taylor Johnson, Trevor Johnson and Aiden Parker.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Haywood's honor to Campbell's Divinity School.
