She was predeceased by: her parents, George Covington and Mittie Covington of Union County; her husband Thomas Henry Sturdivant; her children, William Sturdivant, Wayne Sturdivant, Terry Sturdivant and Carolyn Dunbar; her siblings, George Covington, Jr., Columbus Covington, Kenneth Covington, Partharia White, Queen Thomas, Bernice Staton and Luvenia Gillespie; her grandsons, Lamont Sturdivant, Tyrone Sturdivant, James Funderburke, Niko Sturdivant and Christian Griggs; and her great grandchildren, Jasmine Sturdivant and Jamaric Medlin.

She is survived by: her children, Donnell Sturdivant (Melissa) of Monroe, NC, James Sturdivant (Debra) of Harrisburg, NC, David Sturdivant of Wadesboro, NC, Mary Oxner (Graylen) of Monroe, NC, Dolly Griggs (Anthony) of Angier, NC and Linda Ritter (Edward) of Boise, ID.; and her siblings, James Covington of Oakboro, NC, Wilson Covington of Marshville, NC and Sarah Maske of McDonough, GA.. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren, a host of great and great great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
