He was predeceased by: his parents, Mack Broughton Gardner and Mary Hockaday Gardner; and his siblings, Lois Dougherty, Mary Ann Witt, Mack Williams and James Brooks.
He is survived by: his wife Frances; his children, Marsha Lynn Mendenhall of Danville, VA, Sandra Lee Myers (Chuck) of Mims, FL, Cynthia Woodard of Angier, Barbara Hughes (Gary) of Angier and Richard Frank Gardner of Angier; his grandchildren, Samantha Myers of Mims, FL, Krystal Mendenhall of Fredericksburg, VA, Byron Hughes of Angier, Garrett Myers (Crystal) of Apopka, FL, Courtney Keith (Joey) of Angier and Colton Myers of Orlando, FL; and his siblings, Lena Marsh Gardner of Angier and Stuart Broughton Gardner of Angier. He is also survived by four great granddaughters.
