He was predeceased by: his parents, Alton Stewart and Reva Jones Stewart; his wife Corrine O'Bryan Stewart; his grandson Will Poole; and his siblings, Jean Glenn and Harold Stewart.
He is survived by: his children, Marian Stewart Poole (Haywood) of Raleigh and David Stewart, Jr. (Jan) of Raleigh; and his grandsons, Stewart Poole, Sam Stewart and Charles Stewart. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and extended family.
