He is survived by: his son Durwood Matthews (Sherry) of Coats; his grandchildren, Bianca and Bryan Barfield of Coats; his sister-in-law Mary Ann Martin of Raleigh; and his nieces, Brittany Brownlee and Ebony Hinnant of Lillington. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
