He was predeceased by: his parents, Cornelius Carter (Nick) and Gertie Carter (Johnson); his wife Betty Robinson Carter; and his sister Retha Carter Dean. He is survived by: his children, Wendy Thomas (Donald) of Lillington, Candy Bailey (Shane) of Angier and William "Bunky" Johnson (Elaine) of Beaufort; his grandsons, Joey Talton (Allison) of Angier, Matthew and Luke Bailey of Angier; his great grandchildren, Joseph of Angier, Madison of Angier and Caroline Talton of Angier; and his sister-in-law Carolyn R. Watkins of Rolesville. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
