He was predeceased by: his parents, Hudson Austin and Eva Batten Austin; and his brother Billy Austin. He is survived by: his wife Agnes "Tiny" Mangum Austin; his children, Karen Austin Thomas (Roger) of Raleigh and Bobbie David Austin (Michele) of Angier; his grandchildren, Meredith Thomas Doble (Wes) of Raleigh and Rachael Thomas of Raleigh; his great grandchildren, Kayleigh and Ellie Doble of Raleigh; and his siblings, Jackie Gregory (Charles) of Garner, Janice Austin of Leland and Gilliam Austin (Donna) of Dallas, TX. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
