He was predeceased by: his parents, Elbert Lee Ricketts and Carrie Lee Ricketts; his former wife Laura Frances Hollis Ricketts; and his siblings, James Malcolm Ricketts and Madlin Louise Ricketts Eaves.

He is survived by: his wife Janice "Jan" Honeycutt Ricketts; his children, Thomas Keith Ricketts (Alexia), James Kurt Ricketts (Carolyn) and Karen Ricketts Griffin (Paul); his grandchildren, Conner, Laura and Emily; his brother Elbert DeVaughn Ricketts (Dora); and his stepchildren, Craig (Lisa), Cathy, Timmy (Diane) and Teresa (Dee). He is also survived by step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
