He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Albert Atkinson and Marcelle Carter Atkinson of Garner; his brother Johnny Elbert Atkinson; and his nieces, Brandy Lewis Hawkins and Mica Love Upchurch.
He is survived by: his siblings, Joseph Harold Atkinson (Betty Young Atkinson) of Garner, Sue Atkinson Bryant (Tony) of Benson, Thomas Ricky Atkinson (Rachael Malagisi Atkinson) of Clayton and Kathy Atkinson Sharp (Bob) of Selma; his nieces and nephews, Holly Atkinson, Cindy Atkinson, Emily Atkinson, Jamie Powell, Alexander Atkinson, Joseph Sharp and Trey Gray; and his great-nephews, Jacob Powell, Will Vuncannon and Kaden Gray.
