It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Shirley Susan Darden Hargrove (Andrews, North Carolina), born in Clinton, North Carolina, who passed away on March 30, 2020, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Graham Dewey Darden and Josephine Hairr Darden; her husband James Dowling Hargrove (Jim); and her siblings-in-law, Dallie "Preston" Daughtry, Doris Hargrove, Mary Agnes Puryear, Edna Hargrove, Patrick Hargrove, Nick Hargrove, Lucian Hargrove, George Hargrove, Otis Puryear, Emory Ellis and Mike Logan.
She is survived by: her sons, Gregory Dewey Hargrove (Greg), James Thomas Hargrove (Patricia) and Mark Nicholas Hargrove (Tracy Yarbrough Hargrove); her grandsons, James "Thomas" Hargrove, Jr., Patrick Waters Hargrove, Christian Stephen Hargrove, Nicholas Charles Hargrove and Matthew Taylor Hargrove; her sister Ola Marcelle Darden Daughtry; her nieces, Marcelle and Susan; her nephew Dallie; and her siblings-in-law, Jean Ellis, Maggie Logan, Ganelle Cook, Grace Hargrove, Larry Hargrove and Harold Cook.
To honor Shirley's memory, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the cemetery fund at Piney Grove Baptist Church, 1818 N. McCullen Road, Faison, NC 28341.
