He was predeceased by: his parents, James Daniel and Edith Rogers Owenby; his siblings, Mary Ingle, Becky Owenby and Paul Owenby; and his great-nephew Joshua Bartlett.

He is survived by: his sisters, Doris Owenby of Andrews and Shelby Jean Hannah of Andrews; and his nephews, David Bartlett (Amanda), Timothy Bartlett (Jeanee) and Dale Bartlett (Trisha). He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
