He was predeceased by: his parents, Richmond "Pierce" West and Allie Gregory West; his wife Faye West; and his siblings, Lena West, Zeb, Herman, Robert and Billy West.
He is survived by: his children, Gary West (Susie), Charles Trantham (Mindy), Cathy Jackson (Marlon), Deborah Palmer (Jody) and Melissa Frame (Ben); and his brother Sherman West (Lavina). He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
