He was predeceased by: his parents, Sheridan Solesbee and Catherine Rowland Solesbee; his brothers, Colen Solesbee and Jack Solesbee; and his granddaughter Jo Ann Solesbee.
He is survived by: his wife Jo Ann Wilson Solesbee; his children, James Allen Solesbee, Jr. (Terri) of Nantahala, Sherry Patti (James) of Nantahala and Shannon West (Eric) of Nantahala; his grandchildren, James Allen Solesbee, III (Anzhelika), Jayme Beavers (Joey), Mark Patti, Aidin Kellen and Evan Kellen; and his great grandchildren, James Allen Solesbee, IV, Haley Solesbee, Jackson Patti, Lillian Beavers and Riley Phillips.
