He was predeceased by: his parents, Napoleon Derreberry (Poley) and Betty Curtis Derreberry; his wife Grace Luther Derreberry; his daughter Glenda Lou; his grandson Clark Earwood; his son-in-law Ron Hicks; and his siblings, Clyde, Claude, Ward, Hoyle Derreberry, Ruby Adams, Bonnie Barker, Mae Phillips, Marie West, Maggie Derreberry and Bettie Sue Love Parker.
He is survived by: his daughters, Linda Hedrick (Jerry) of Rutherford College, Vickie Hicks of Andrews and Shirley Owenby (Dick) of Dillon; his grandson David Owenby (Kelley) of Erie; his siblings, Austin Derreberry (Dot) of Andrews and Joyce Foster of Advance; and also Angie Payne. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
