She was predeceased by: her parents, Enoch Nichols and Mettie Taylor Nichols; her husband Elmer Buren "Red" Rowland; her daughter Christeen Grant; her sons-in-law, Leon Adams, Dewey Harbin and Bert Bateman; her siblings, Dorothy, Genieve, Marva, Magdalene, Betty Jean and Fate; and her half-sisters, Bennie, Byrd, Angie and Bertha.
She is survived by: her children, Phyllis Bateman of Nantahala, NC, Shirley Oswalt (Tom) and Joe Rowland (Judy) of Nantahala, NC; her son-in-law Marvin Grant of Lakeland, FL; her sister Joan Ragan of Maysville, GA; and her grandchildren, Joey Rowland, Dean Bateman, Tonya Cook, Janie Queen, Natalie Lee, Darla Jones, Tyra Grant and Brad Grant. She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren and 39 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, December 8th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Monday, December 9th 2024 at 10:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Monday, December 9th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the White Oak Flats Baptist Church (215 White Oak Ln, Topton, NC 28781).
The family request memorials be made in memory of Anna Rowland to the Nantahala Fire Department, 19036 Wayah Road Topton, NC 28781.
