He is survived by: his children, William J. Smith IV, Robert C. Smith, Matthew W. Bubka, Jane M. Studstill and Patricia Ann Barters; and his sister Ora May Martini. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family suggested memorial contributions be made to P.A.W.S.
