It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Sue Riddick Slaymaker of Alliance, North Carolina, born in New Bern, North Carolina, who passed away on February 9, 2021, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband George Stern Slaymaker; her parents, Richard Henry Riddick and Mary Lydia Riddick of Alliance; her daughter Mary Evelyn Avery; and her grandson Garrett Hayes Avery.
She is survived by: her son Mark Avery (Carol Avery) of New Orleans; her grandchildren, Harris, Travis and Maddie Avery; her son Mack Avery (Susan Avery) of Oriental; her granddaughter Nicole Avery; her siblings, Richard Henry Riddick, II (Sadie Murphy Riddick) of Merritt, NC and Lillie Riddick Reilly (Joe Reilly) of Morehead City, NC.; and her stepdaughters, Hollie Slaymaker Madamba (Dave) of Linwood, NJ, Linda Slaymaker of Linwood, NJ, Sandy Jenkins of Old Fort, NC and Valerie Ireland (Ken) of Absecon, NJ.. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family suggested making memorial contributions to the Sudan Shrine Temple in care of the Shrinettes, P.O. Box 12829, New Bern, NC 28561.
