He is survived by: his wife Mary Lynn Hager Hovis; his sons, Scott Hovis (Amanda) of Spartanburg and Josh Hovis of Iron Station; his daughter-in-law Michelle Hovis of Alexis; his granddaughters, Sammie, Emily, Amy Lynn Hovis of Spartanburg, Katie Blaine and Lily Hovis of Alexis; and his sister Alice Snow (Joe).
