He was predeceased by: his parent Albert Rankin, Sr.; his sons, Joseph "Joey" Rankin and James Rankin; and his siblings, Eloise R. Scott, Mable Glaspy Bradshaw, Betty Hinds, Lettie Dalton, Bernard Rankin, Walter Glaspy, Larry Rankin and Albert Rankin, Jr..
He is survived by: his parent Elizabeth Glaspy Rankin; his wife Clara; his children, Tony Rankin, James Alston (Shelia) and Faye Alston of Statesville; his daughter-in-law Gloria Rankin of Mississippi; his siblings, Withrow Stockton (Doris) of New York, Margretta Cowan, Patricia Wellman and Hallie Jane Davidson (Joe); and his siblings-in-law, Drewell McClendoh (Judy) of Detroit, MI, James Dalton of Winston Salem, Vanessa Jones (Raymond), Pauline Glaspy and Gwendolyn Rankin. He is also survived by six grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, church family, other relatives and friends.
