He was predeceased by: his son Larry Edward Stafford; his siblings, Blanche Stafford, Belle Teague, Sara Seitz, Toy Smith, Glenn, Roy, Don and Lindsay Stafford; and his sister-in-law Edna Stafford.

He is survived by: his wife Gayle Hutchinson Stafford; his son Darrell Stafford (Amelia); his brother Wade Stafford of Gastonia; his grandchildren, Crystal White (Joshua), Houston Stafford (Lisa), Nichole Armstrong, Melanie Stafford, Ben Stafford and Bradley Stafford (Brittney); and his great grandchildren, Diatheke Stafford, Alithya White, Isaiah, Gabriel Stafford, Michael, Isabell Jimenez, Braxton Mack and Norah Lee Stafford. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
