She was predeceased by: her parents, James Thomas Shaver Sr. and Verta Mauldin Shaver; her husband Curtis Harvey Deese; her son John Thomas "Tommy" Deese; and her siblings, J. T. Shaver, Hazel Rummage and Pearline Chandler.
She is survived by: her daughters, Kathy Streuber (Greg) of Stanfield, NC and Brenda Culp (David) of Norwood, NC; her grandchildren, Holli Bryant (Bobby), Heather Ridenhour, Dillon Streuber, Ashley Slack, Michael Culp (Suzanne) and Chelsey Culp; and her great grandchildren, Meliek, Elijah, Kaleb, Ella Bryant, Kyndle, Sonni Plowman, Kyleigh Stamper and Charlotte Culp.
