He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Blanding and Maxine Evans Blanding; his wife Brenda Freeman Blanding; his brother Ambassador Broadus Blanding; and his stepdaughter Yvette Miller.
He is survived by: his daughters, Sherry Cleo Blanding-Lee (Eric), Patricia Blanding and Charlene Patterson; his grandchildren, Delmetrius (Alexis), Judson, Leilah, Liayra, La'Quisha and Aujawan; his great grandchildren, Dallas, Darien, Ta'Rayah, Jerriyha and Jerrell; his stepchildren, Herman Miller (Abbie) and Quienda Parks (Stan); and his siblings, Olivia Kilgo, Siesta Rushing, Benita Edwards, Ronald Blanding, David Brigham, Eddie Brigham, Tracy Brigham, Dale Brigham (Dianna), Gary Brigham and Kenneth Brigham. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
