She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarence Durant and Cora Smith Whitley; her husband George Bennett Smart, Jr.; her daughter Crystal Lynn Smart; her granddaughter Catherine Paige Russell; her great grandchild Karsyn Suzanne Jernigan; and her siblings, Grant Hugh Whitley, Earl Durant Whitley, Zeb V. Whitley and Myrtle Lou Teeter.
She is survived by: her children, Cathy Russell (David) of Safety Harbor, FL, Jackie Jernigan (Darrell) of Albemarle, NC and George Smart III (Roelof) of Amsterdam, Netherlands; her grandchildren, Shannon Leigh Graham, Nikki Cruz, Britt Jernigan (Dana), Matthew Russell (Rachel), Payton Jernigan (Megan) and Alex Smart; her great grandchildren, Carter Graham, Brendan Cruz, Micah Morton, Kobe Jernigan, Camden Russell, Kaleigh Graham, Saylem Jernigan, Cooper Russell and Kyndal Jernigan; and her brothers, Clyde Whitely of Albemarle and Tommy Whitley of Locust.
