He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Parker McSwain and Fannie Mae West McSwain; and his brothers, Bryan McSwain, Hugh McSwain, Gilreath McSwain, C. E. McSwain, Liles McSwain and Ralph McSwain.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Arnold McSwain; his daughter Beteena Shank of Biscoe; his stepson Michael Murray of Albemarle; his stepgrandchildren, Amy Tracy (Mark) of Richfield and Matthew Ridenhour (Jessie) of Richfield; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Landon, Neyland Tracy, Caitlin and Harlow Ridenhour.
