He was predeceased by: his parents, William Cheek and Mattie Best Cheek; his former wife Florence Apple Cheek; and his siblings, Helen Cheek Fuller, Ethel Cheek Reece, Bill Allen Cheek, Herbert Cheek and Macon Cheek.
He is survived by: his wife Maxine Cheek; and his stepsons, Wayne Pruitt and Bradley Pruitt. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; and his church family.
