He is survived by: his daughters, Kim Lassiter (Johnnie) of Winton and Michelle Brinkley (Steve) of Greenville; the mother of his children Rachel Smith; his grandsons, John Harrell, David Harrell, Adam Brinkley (Rachel) and Travis Brinkley (Courtney); his great grandchild Peyton Brinkley; his sister Ruth Jernigan Goff; his nephew Jason Fleck (Lori); his great-nephew Bowen; and his great-niece Allie. He is also survived by his friends and pets.
