It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Ruth Jane Williford in Ahoskie, North Carolina, born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, who passed away on February 16, 2025, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ruth Earley Fitzhugh and John Lemuel Fitzhugh, Sr.; and her brother John Lemuel Fitzhugh, Jr.. She is survived by: her close friend Cheryl Whitaker; her children, Deborah Jane Fields (Lynn) of Murfreesboro and Walter Lee Williford (Denise) of Virginia Beach, VA.; her grandchildren, Hannah Early, Daniel Early (Courtney), Coleton Byrum, Kylie Williford (Devin), Leah Williford, Nolan Williford and Greyson Ferrell; and her brother Andrew Fitzhugh. She is also survived by her family, friends.
A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, February 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie Chapel (205 NC-42, Ahoskie, NC 27910). A burial was held on Tuesday, February 18th 2025 at 11:45 AM at the Highland Memorial Gardens (109 Ward Rd, Ahoskie, NC 27910).
