He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Ruth Harrell Futrell and Roy Lee "Bus" Grant. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn McNeil of Harlem, NY; his sons, Derrick H. McNeil (Angela) of Harlem, NY and Hakim A. Harrell (Elaine) of Bronx, NY; his siblings, Connie Harrell of Raleigh, NC, Sylvester "Jose" Futrell (Geraldine) of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Barry K. Futrell (Naomi) of Manhattan, NY and Calvin Futrell (Leah) of Winterville, NC; and his grandchildren, Jordyn, Jaylen, Tajhae, Taychaun and Elaina. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, February 16th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Hunter's Funeral Home - Ahoskie (123 Dr Martin Luther King Jr Dr N, Ahoskie, NC 27910).
