He was predeceased by: his parents, Moses Joyner and Pearl Pittman Joyner. He is survived by: his children, Joyce Ruffin (Daniel) of Battleboro, NC, Crystal Joyner (Dan) of Tarboro, NC, Shari Adams (Jerry, Jr.) of Nashville, NC and Milton Joyner, II (Jessica) of Greenville, NC; and his siblings, Carolyn, Emma, Hilda, E. L., Ray, Ronnie and David. He is also survived by grandchildren; (1) great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
