She was predeceased by: her parents, Leslie Earl Spruill and Nona Whitley Spruill; her husband Lewis Poston Sumner; and her brothers, Leslie Earl Spruill and Oscar Denton Spruill.
She is survived by: her sons, Louis Wesley Sumner (Angelia) of Washington, NC, Hersey Ray Sumner (Lillian) of Rougemont, NC and Caroll Leonard Sumner (Kathy) of Windsor, NC; and her siblings, Jerry Spruill of Conway, NC and Jean Carter (Walter) of Norfolk, VA. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
