He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruth Joyner and Willie Joyner; his wife Blonnie Terry Joyner; his children, Susan Harmon, Ronald and Steve Joyner; his grandson Christopher Joyner; his great grandchild Levi Lee; his daughter-in-law Wendy Joyner; and his brothers, Billy, Eugene and Roy Joyner.
He is survived by: his children, Peggy Walston (Perry) of Ahoskie, Tammy Evans (Mike) of Murfreesboro, Mike Joyner of Aulander and David A. Joyner (Josie) of Colerain; his son-in-law Linwood Harmon of Aulander; his grandchildren, Tonya Thompson (Neal) of Aulander, Melissa Wommack (Kenny) of Ahoskie, Ashley Walston Poole (Sean) of Wake Forest, Brittany Walston (Sebastion Lee) of Sunbury, Elizabeth Joyner of Colerain, Perry Walston, III of Ahoskie, Michael Joyner, II of Aulander, Matthew Joyner of Rocky Mount, David T. Joyner of Colerain, Chase Evans of Ahoskie and Robert Whitehead (April) of Oklahoma; his great grandchildren, Landon Thompson, Nathan Wommack, Gabriel Wommack, Charlotte Poole, Savannah Poole, Sebastion Lee, Jr. of Jude Lee, R. J and Sammy Whitehead; and his siblings, James "Jimmy" Joyner of Hampton, VA, Hunter Joyner of Ahoskie and Eloise Belch of Ahoskie. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Visitation was held on Sunday, April 13th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service (205 NC-42, Ahoskie, NC 27910). A celebration of life was held on Monday, April 14th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Mercy Church (127 NC-42, Ahoskie, NC 27910). A burial was held on Monday, April 14th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the Job Cemetery.
