He is survived by: his wife Louise Simpson Barnes; his sons, John W. Barnes, Jr, Rodney Taylor and Jay Philpot of Atlanta, GA; and his sisters, Essie Jones of Richmond, VA, Ann Richards of Hampton, Mary Ward (Melvin) of Hampton and Catherine Wilson of Hampton. He is also survived by grandchildren; (30) great grandchildren; a host of great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
