It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jessie Helen Welborn Simons of Ahoskie, North Carolina, who passed away on August 18, 2022, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Welborn and Hattie Davis Welborn; her husband John David Simons, Jr. (Dave); her daughter Nancy Ruth Simons; and her siblings, John Welborn, Lewis Welborn, Mae Lay and Nancy Quesenbery.
She is survived by: her daughter Joan Simons Hirsekorn of Newport News, VA; her grandchildren, John David Simons, IV (Kelley) of Raleigh, NC, Sarah Simons Josey (Logan) of Scotland Neck, NC, Katherine Hirsekorn (Katie) of Alexandria, VA and Emma Valentine Hirsekorn of Richmond, VA.; and her great grandchildren, Elizabeth Stuart Simons (Liza), John David Simons (Jack), Charles Kitchin Josey (Charlie), John Everette Josey and Vivian Frances Josey of Scotland Neck, NC.
