With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Jean Umphlet Overton of Ahoskie, North Carolina, born in Scotland Neck, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 29, 2024 at the age of 95. She was predeceased by: her spouse Spurgeon "Pete" Overton; her parents, Daisy Umphlet and Willie Umphlet; and her siblings, Truitt, Earl, Stanley, Tommy Umphlet, Dot Barton and Nancy Bannerman.
She is survived by: her children, Tommy Overton (Cathy), Ted Overton, Jeanne Sohooli and Jill Metz (Jay); her grandchildren, Fletcher Metz, Graham Metz, Holly Overton, Heather Overton, Tyler Sohooli, Russ Sohooli (Stephanie), Suede Sohooli, Cieara Overton and Abby Overton; her great grandchild Pierce; her stepgreat-grandson Davis; her great grandchildren, Jaxon and Riley; and her sister Sarah Hawkins. She is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends.
