She was predeceased by: her parents, Phronia W. Phelps and Guy W. Phelps; her brothers, Malcolm Phelps and Larry Phelps; and her son-in-law James A. Nelson, Jr. (Jimmy).
She is survived by: her significant other Robert T. Newsome (Bob) of Ahoskie, NC.; her daughters, Beth N. Nelson of Greenville and Sandra N. Sheckells of Apex; her grandchildren, Jay Nelson, Suzanne Phelps Nelson Jones (Zach), McKenna Nelson, Taylor, Tanner and Tripp Sheckells; and also, Addison, Aubriella and Ellianna.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Ahoskie (312 Main St, Ahoskie, NC 27910). Visitation was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at 1:45 PM at the same location.
