He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Mitchell Godwin, Sr. and Vera Harrell Godwin; and his sister Phyllis Godwin Frymier (late Gary). He is survived by: his wife Thelma Peede Godwin; his children, Audrey Leigh White of Windsor, Allison Godwin Wilson (Rick) of Dover, DE and Jeff Godwin of Clayton; his brother Paul M. Godwin, Jr. (Nancy) of Ahoskie; his grandchildren, Jessica L. White of Windsor, Cindy W. Gibbs (Bryan) of Windsor and David A. White, Jr. of Windsor; and his great grandchildren, Bryan L. Jr., Landen and Sarah Gibbs.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made either to Powellsville V.F.D, P.O. Box 142, Powellsville, NC 27967 or to Gentiva Hospice, 200 Green St., Suite 203, Williamston, NC 27892.
