He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. Frank Smith and Edna Smith; and his son Tim Jernigan. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Godley Smith; his daughters, Cynthia S. Woolard (David) and Amanda S. Bass (Justin); his stepchildren, Winson Barnes (Stacey) and Thomas Jernigan (Nicky); his grandchildren, Nick, Natalie Bass, Meagan, Natalie Barnes, Carter, Jordan, Dylan and Leslie; his great grandchild Arlene; his brother Frank Smith, Jr. (Sharon); and his pet Buddy.
