He was predeceased by: his parents, Ed Burris and Zulla Burris; his wife Brenda Joyce Kennedy Burris; his sons, Ronnie and Tommy; and his sister Phyllis.

He is survived by: his children, Randy and Sheri. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Friends Baptist Church, 1840 Lewisville Clemmons Road, Clemmons, NC 27012 or to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27013.
