She was predeceased by: her parents, Paul Alfred and Margaret Butner Troutt; her brother Michael Troutt; and her husband Earnest Alfred Smith, Sr.. She is survived by: her siblings, Kathy Foster (Keith) and Steve Troutt; and her sons, Earnest A. Smith, Jr. (Sheila) and Todd Smith (Jaimie). She is also survived by seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
