He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Lester and Emma Geraldine Bailey Spencer; and his brothers, Thomas, Bill and Joe Spencer.
He is survived by: his wife Bettie G. Spencer; his sons, Craig Spencer (Lourdes), Tim Spencer (Valeria) and Kevin Spencer (Michelle); his brother Steve Spencer (Glenda); and his sister-in-law June Spencer. He is also survived by five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Cross Baptist Church at 4350 High Point Rd, Kernersville, NC 27284 or to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home at 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27284.
