He was predeceased by: his parents, Arvil Gentry and Alva Shaffner Gentry; his wife Hazeline Carter Gentry; and his siblings, Loretta Binkley, Clara Tuttle, Mary Lou Edwards, Laura Beamer and Billy Joe Gentry.
He is survived by: his daughter Lisa Hopkins (Harold) of Kernersville; his grandchildren, Hal David Hopkins (Ellen) of Winston-Salem, Daniel Hopkins (Jamie) and Heather Watson (Brandon) of Germanton; his great grandchildren, Chloe, Carter, Grayson, Hadley and Carson; and his brothers, Evon Gentry (Dale) of Winston-Salem and George Gentry (Gerri) of Pfafftown. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care or Freedom Baptist Church Youth Group.
