He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick William and Mabel Annie Brocklehurst Machent; and his brother Brian Machent. He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Nixon Machent; his children, Jonathan (Amanda) and Danielle Machent Brown (Steven); his grandchildren, Jessica Annie Machent, Bradley Daryl Machent and Joseph William Machent; his great grandchild Jax Thomas Hill of England; his parents-in-law, William Earl and Aby Godfrey Nixon; and his siblings-in-law, Ronnie, Michael (Amy), William Nixon (Robin) and Terri Nixon Britton (Paul) of Edenton, NC..
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Davie High School Men's Golf Team, at 180 War Eagle Drive Mocksville NC 27028.
