He was predeceased by: his parents, John Leroy Sr. and Juanita Talley Mims; his wife Betty LeRue Brown Mims; his daughter Wendy Sue Mims Clevenger; and his brothers, Thomas Lee Mims, John Leroy Mims Jr., James Larry Mims and Edward Allen Mims.
He is survived by: his children, Robert Wayne Mims, Jr. (Felisha) of Aberdeen and Mary Elizabeth Mims Mutchler (John Davis) of Garner. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
