He is survived by: his wife Edith McNeill Newton; his daughter Cathy Newton Watts; his husband Randy Watts; his son Marshall McNeill Newton (Allison Poole Newton); his grandchildren, Amy Watts Chesson, Randall Bennett Watts, Marshall McNeill Newton Jr. and Mary Lawrence Newton; and his great grandchild Hayden Saunders Chesson.
