He was predeceased by: his parents, Alf Helvik and Delaine Helvik (Jendro); his wife Sandy Chaffee; and his sister Cheryl McCaskey. He is survived by: his children, Lynnelle Nistler (Doug) of Glasgow, Craig Helvik (Nina) of Wibaux and Michelle Helvik (Patrick Perry) of Tucson, Arizona; his grandchildren, Alexus, Nik Nistler, Cade, Ross Helvik and Nevayah Perry; his brother Larry Helvik (Peggy) of Wibaux; and his siblings-in-law, Ike McCaskey of Beach and Kitty Knapkewicz of Wibaux. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
