Michael Dale Lewis Obituary
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Michael (Mike) Dale Lewis age 60. Mike was born on October 18, 1962. He passed away surrounded by his loved ones on June 9, 2023 after a brief battle with cancer.
He is reunited with his mom, Susan Payton Lewis, his sister, Brenda Lewis, his grandson Curtis Blake Lewis, grandparents and his Bongo brother, Karl Henderson.
Mike is survived by his father, Ernest Lewis, brothers, Billy (Corrine), Pat (Laura), Donny, his sister, Gail Moran (Tim), his children, Blake, Myles, Ashlee Wendell (Jayson), Alex, his former wife and dear friend Danita, his grandchildren, Chevy, Blake Jr, Scarlett, Levi and Bodie Wendell, nieces and nephews, and his Bongo Brothers.
Mike was born in Virginia. His family relocated to Lucedale, MS when he was a young boy. He was a member of The Boy Scouts of America, earning many merit badges. He graduated in 1981 from George County High School where he played football and became lifelong friends with his Bongo Brothers . After graduating high school he joined the USMC. Following in his father’s footsteps Mike became a welder working all across the country. After what he called a “life changing” vacation to Glacier National Park he decided to make Montana his home. He settled in the small town of Superior in the Lolo National Forest where he leaves behind countless friends. At the time of his passing he was employed at Lucky Friday Mine in Idaho where he worked as a Safety Superintendent in the Boilermaker department. He was deeply loved and well respected by his co-workers.
Mike was an avid animal lover and spent countless hours with his two dogs, Kojak and Doobie (AKA the boys) hiking in the mountains. He loved traveling the mountain roads of Montana and was given the nickname Mountain Rider. Mike was most known for his humor, quick wit and positive attitude. A direct quote from him “The Future’s So Bright, We’ve Gotta Wear Shades!”
Mike will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him. The family will be announcing a Celebration of Life in the near future.
