She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Emmett Gurney Jr. and Amy Gurney (Jackson); and her brother Frank Gurney III. She is survived by: her spouse Byron Johnson; her friend Gloria Sanders; her sister-in-law Tawnya Gurney; her daughters, Pam Mickelson (Troy) of Rochester, MN and Theresa Larson (Jim) of Fargo, ND; her grandchildren, Francesca Mickelson (Frankie), T. Palmer Mickelson, Emily Larson and Benjamin Larson; her brother Ron Gurney (Tawnya) of Sidney, Montana; and her sister-in-law Darlene Gurney of Fairborn, Ohio. She is also survived by her many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews.

In lieu of flowers, Helen's wishes are to have memorials sent to Sidney Assembly of God.
