He was predeceased by: his sisters, Joan, Beverly, March and Main St. He is survived by: his wife Josephine of Roundup; his daughters, Tina Shields of Winston Salem, NC, Teresa Fauth (Brad) of Roundup, Twyla Lister (Jim) of Fromberg, MT and Justine Walker; and his brother Gary Butterfield (Bonnie) of Wichita, KS.. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
